The UpSlide PDF Portfolio Layout Available Now

The UpSlide Layout is now available on the PDF Portfolio Layouts, Themes and Tools page. It’s a variation on the default Acrobat “Click-Through” layout except that the files move vertically. I’ve also modified the header and added a footer area. The header and footer are left aligned and allow you to add an image or text above and below the navigation buttons and summary field. The header, footer and navigation button areas are 500 pixels wide and are pinned to the left edge of the Portfolio window. The header and footer are 200 and 300 pixels high, respectively. The navigation button area height will vary based on your screen size.

This layout was inspired by some work that I did a couple of weeks ago for a customer who needed to have an image pinned to the lover left corner of the layout but not have it scale when the screen size changes. With the current default set of Acrobat layouts, that’s just not possible unless you create a huge background image and align the image to the lower-left corner… which means you can’t have any important part of your background image at the top; on smaller screens, it’d get cut off. After working through this project, I decided it was time to add a footer component to my Portfolio layouts. This is the first iteration of that. Let me know what you think in the comments section.

UpSlide Preview

The UpSlide Layout has the same three themes as the Scrapbook Layout and adds the “Glass” theme which is the default. Glass is a very minimal theme and is inspired by a certain device that I keep next to me on the couch while I’m watching TV… love that IMDB app.

Go to the PDF Portfolio Layouts, Themes and Tools page to download the layout.
